"Equal Justice for All" (I)

"Equal Justice for All" is one of the slogans chanted by the Ferguson protesters.

One question:

How can they know (or prove) that Darren Wilson would have acted differently if Brown had been a Caucasian?

The fact that a white officer shoots and/or kills a black man is insufficient by and of itself to prove police brutality and/or racism.  Many, if not most, of the protesters apparently think differently.

And obviously, the New York Times* believes there is a pattern of police misconduct, which may or may not be true, depending on how one fits the pegs in the holes.  Even if this true, this does not mean that any time a police officer in the United States has used force on a black person, that it was inappropriate or illegal.

The New York Times has apparently little concern or sympathy for the many victims of black violence to make even a feeble attempt to put the incidents of alleged police misconduct in the larger context of violent urban crime.**

** One specific instance is the murder of four Lakewood, WA policemen by a black man a few years ago.  One can be a liberal (and a person of color!) and still ask the question that the New York Times will not ask:   How many police officers have been wounded or killed by black men?
