Felis catus

What impresses me about the  Felis silvestris catus cat is its unswerving determination to be itself and its quite unusual sensitivity to its environment--whether olfactory, visual, aural, tactile...despite centuries of very harsh conditions, the cat has managed to survive with its beauty and sensitivity intact.

By contrast, I think our species homo sapiens through the centuries has become even more brutish and insensitive, as manifested by our need to have things bigger, louder, faster, more violent in our culture, as if we had become tone deaf to Nature and can only perceive things if they are amplified, exaggerated, and coarsened.
