3rd & Pine in Seattle, a civil discussion on Yelp ("I have become accustomed to being harassed all my life. Nothing new this time.")

Someone is always crashing my parties.

I have become accustomed to being harassed all my life.   Nothing new this time.

The memory comes back to me of being around 14 with my sister playing at Roanoke Park and being surrounded and attacked by a group of white teenagers.  At least they didn't hit me hard, not the way blacks in the past have really punched, slapped, and kicked me.  Cruelty and taunting I have lived with all my life.

Gross distortion of another's views, name-calling, and taunting are second nature to many of the young generation.  They seem to have brought up on it so it has become second nature.

What have you seen downtown at 3rd & Pine that really scared you?

Nothing particular, but I recently went to Buffalo NY and my friend kept trying to tell me what a bad neighborhood it was and I seriously had to question if she had forgotten about downtown Seattle.

I try to spend as little time as possible and avoid waiting for the bus there.  But I've still seen people running around, a guy on the ground with police around him, and police cars parked in front.  There seems to be lots of screaming, hooting, and shouting.   Hustlers?  But no knives or guns.  So far.

Some people think they know what racism is but, unfortunately, do not.   Too young to have lived through the Civil Rights movement of the sixties, as I did.

I did not bring up the topic of race.  Someone else did.  He is not paranoid.

Besides, everyone knows that blacks, whites, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans, Muslim-Americans, etc. are all equal, and ergo, all equally represented at 3rd and Pine.

If 90% of your reviews weren't ranting about the savagery of the "African American male", I might think differently.

Besides, to quote The Stranger, "what would a 'stupid white boy' like 'X' know?"

At least he didn't make a snide remark about my sex change.
