An old building is like an old friend.

What is beauty?
Do we perceive beauty in our daily lives?
Can a forest of hemlocks and firs be considered beautiful in the same way as a pair of stylish high heels or a sports car?

In America, we demolish older buildings for no reasons not dissimilar from the way we view older people as being in the way of, or having to make room for, the "now" generation.

You could have a dozen Vietnams and Iraqs, and Americans would not learn...technology, industry, and consumerism are America's true culture.

What kind of society makes violence a thing of beauty?
